Hook&Loop is looking for a curious and driven Researcher (generalist) to join our team and help our organization uncover and test insights that enable us to make more strategic data-driven decisions.

The Researcher is a member of our Insights team, working autonomously and with another researcher and a data viz engineer when appropriate.

The team is responsible for:

  • Efficiently uncover accurate, meaningful, and consumable/actionable insights to influence product
  • Prioritize allocation of research resources against pipeline of needs and requests in collaboration with the team and leadership
  • Identify opportunities, advocate for, and make proposals for future research engagements
  • Catalog and cite how their work leads to action or a result
  • Connect stakeholders to relevant past and ongoing research

Your focus includes:

  • User research/usability: Interviews, observation, testing, feedback via Infor channels and in-app
  • Product research (Infor and the competitive set): Desk research, interviews, webinars, surveys, conferences, customer workshops
  • Industry and market trends
  • Collecting, analyzing, reporting, and presenting findings
  • Maintaining, improving, and scaling our internal processes by educating designers, product lead, and other team members to include research in their day-to-day work

Your primary responsibility is to know our users, our products, the market, and competition and be one of our expert voice of research inside H&L:

  • Contribute to storytelling, UX, and product strategy
  • Help create a customer-centric, insight-driven culture
  • Guide and advise on strategic insights
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and competitive offerings as needed
  • Gather user and functional requirements, establish KPIs, estimate effort, set scope and define timelines for research initiatives
  • Establish methodologies and best practices for research, synthesis, and analysis
  • Identify the right approach for a given business challenge
  • Distill complex questions into testable hypotheses and research plans into actionable recommendations

Required skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Analytics, Research or related area
  • Strong project management skills and self-direction
  • Ability to balance competing priorities
  • Customer orientation and solid product and design intuition
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Experience with/understanding of the requirements for enterprise software/mobile applications

Experience:

  • 3-5+ years of related job experience
  • Human-computer Interaction (HCI), Behavioral Science or relevant work experience is a plus
    Physical Requirements:
  • General office environment
  • No special physical demands
  • Some stress may occur at times
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones (requires some meetings before/after regular business hours to accommodate)
